DOC: COPYLEAKS–VS–WINSTON–AI CYCLE: 2026.10

Copyleaks vs Winston AI: Vendor Accuracy Claims Side by Side (2026)

Copyleaks vs Winston AI: each vendor's own accuracy claim, its footnotes, the price tiers in eesel AI's review, and the one separate real-world test that reports lower results.

Verdict: Pick Copyleaks if you need an AI check tied to LMS integrations, enterprise controls or text across many languages, and you accept that its 99% figure is its own. Pick Winston AI if you are screening content in bulk for a publisher or agency and want a free trial before you pay. Neither one should be chosen on its headline accuracy alone.

Copyleaks’ edge

The strongest feature in this comparison is the institutional fit. eesel AI lists LMS integrations with Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, D2L, Schoology and Google Classroom, and Copyleaks’ homepage describes LMS integrations for educational institutions. Its platform also covers plagiarism, and the vendor says it supports over 30 languages.

The sensitivity settings are a useful detail. According to eesel AI, Copyleaks offers three modes, which it labels Extra Safe, Balanced and Extra Sensitive, with false-positive rates the review gives as 0.009%, 0.026% and 0.05%. Those are Copyleaks’ stated figures as the review reports them, not this site’s tests. Source: Copyleaks’ price guide.

Winston AI’s edge

Winston’s edge is the trial and the volume pricing. Its homepage offers a free trial with no credit card, and eesel AI says its Advanced and Elite tiers undercut Originality.ai’s per-word pricing at very high volume. eesel AI also says one credit covers one word, so the credit count is easy to read against a content queue.

The honest caveat is the accuracy gap. Winston’s homepage shows 99.87%, and eesel AI’s table lists 99.98% from a whitepaper. Neither figure is independent. The separate real-world test the review cites found 75 to 85% on AI essays, which is much lower. Source: Winston’s pricing notes.

Reading the accuracy numbers

Copyleaks’ own footnote says its 99% figure comes from internal testing on English datasets. It says nothing about other languages or about text from newer models. Winston’s figure is also a vendor figure. Put both next to the real-world result, and the gap is the thing to check. Source: Copyleaks’ plan breakdown.

For a buyer, the practical test is a set of your own samples. Include human-written pages and AI-written pages, and count the misses in each direction. A vendor figure can tell you what the vendor tested. It cannot tell you what your writers will produce.

Who each one suits

Before you buy

Confirm which plan includes the integration you need, since LMS and API features often sit on higher tiers. Check the language list against the languages you publish in. Ask whether the vendor keeps the text you submit, and read its privacy terms. Keep a record of each score and the version of the text it was run on.

What this comparison cannot settle

This comparison runs neither tool on a shared test set, and it does not reproduce the Cornell study or the real-world test. The vendor figures are what each vendor states on its own site. The prices and the separate real-world result are as eesel AI reports them. Further detail is on the method page.
